XAT 2024: Registration, admit card, requirements, syllabus, exam format, and cutoffs
- For more than 72 years, XLRI has administered the computer-based Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). An admission exam at the national level is given once a year in January. Each year, more than 70,000 people take the XAT exam out of more than 1 lakh applicants who have registered.
- For admission to their post-graduate management programmes, more than 160 institutions, including TAPMI, IMT, and 11 other XAMI colleges, accept XAT in addition to XLRI. No other entry is accepted by XLRI; only XAT scores are accepted for admission to the PGDM programmes offered on its campuses.
From 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, one 3-hour and 30-minute period will be dedicated to the XAT 2024 exam. The XAT 2024 will include four sections including a two-part essay question; Part 1 (VA, DM, QADI) will have 175 minutes, Part 2 will have Mock Keyboard Testing for 5 minutes, and Part 3 will have General Knowledge and Essay Writing for 30 minutes.

XAT Eligibility Criteria
Before registering for the exam, a candidate who wishes to take the XAT in 2024 must meet the basic prerequisites. The XAT’s eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution that took them three years or more to finish.
- The XAT exam is also open to candidates who are in their final year.
- To take the XAT exam, there is no minimum pass percentage needed.
- Students from NRI institutions may apply using the GMAT.
- Candidates are welcome to apply and take the test as long as they meet the XAT eligibility standards.

Online registration for the XAT is available. To complete the registration process, candidates must have the necessary documentation and pay the application cost. Anyone who wants to take the XAT must finish the registration process by the final registration date.

- You can pay for the XAT application using credit cards, debit cards, mobile wallets, online banking, IMPS, cash cards, or other payment methods.
- An electronic receipt will be generated following the payment. The candidate will need to re-login and complete the payment if they do not obtain the electronic receipt, which indicates that the payment has failed.
- Both the electronic receipt and the online application must be saved by the applicant.
XAT Required Documents
Candidates must provide a passport-size photo and an image of their signature to the application form. The specifications for the photographs are detailed on the XAT website, and a brief is given below:
- The picture must be a recent, colour, passport-size photograph. White or light should be the background colour.
- The photo file should be between 20KB and 50KB in size.
- The candidate must use a black ink and white paper to sign, then scan the signature.
- The signature that is provided on the attendance sheet on the exam day should match the signature that will appear on the admit card.
- The signature’s file size should range from 20KB to 50KB.

The XAT exam structure in 2024 will be the same as in 2023. XAT 2024 will go along similar lines as XAT 2023 did, which saw some alterations. The paper is broken up into three sections, which are listed below:

XAT Marking Scheme
- One mark is given for each right response.
- For each incorrect response: -0.25 marks
- 8 unanswered questions later, -0.1 for each one that is still unanswered
- Upon shortlisting, the essay question will receive a separate evaluation.
XAT Syllabus
There are four sections to the XAT 2024 syllabus, including an essay question. The essay question is solely taken into account for review after shortlisting and is not factored into the XAT percentile score computation.
